What Is Seborrheic Dermatitis?

Seborrheic dermatitis is a skin inflammation that appears as white plaques on the scalp or inside the ear. Usually the area of the lesion is red. May occur in the head of an infant.

Due To Seborrheic Dermatitis?

The condition is due to overproduction of sebum and irritation of the fungus malessezia. The disease is familial. The risk increases when there is stress, fatigue, oily skin, use a spirit lotion, obesity, acne, rarity bathing. Also, the condition is associated with Parkinson's disease, with AIDS patients, or people who in the past have experienced a stroke.

Symptoms Of Seborrheic Dermatitis

Seborrheic dermatitis appears with white plates on the surface of the skin, oily skin in the area of the lesion, skin scales in the form of dandruff, itching, redness, hair loss. It is found mainly in oily areas of the skin, so the scalp, eyebrows, eyelids, lips, around the ears and trunk.
In infants appears as a yellow and brown spots on the scalp them. The cradle cap (the childhood form of the disease) is shown up to 3 years and is not contagious. However, it can be itchy and lead to bleeding or mild infection.

Diagnosis Of Seborrheic Dermatitis

The diagnosis of the disease is made by clinical dermatological examination and recognition of symptoms and the clinical picture.

How Is Seborrheic Dermatitis?

Seborrheic dermatitis is treated with the use shampoo for specific against dry skin and dandruff. The hair should ideally be bathed daily. Be sure to rinse the head after the application of the medicinal shampoo. When the disease occurs on the chest or in the face, apply a pharmaceutical lotion 2 times a day. The condition tends to improve during the summer months.
